Keep Moving Your Fitness Forward...

New year resolutions start strong and The HUB Staff are here to support continued strength throughout the year. My new year highlights for success include group exercise classes, personal training and ActivTrax.  These are excellent avenues of exercise adherence – sticking to your program for year-long and lifelong achievement.

Here’s what’s already happened at The HUB:

Our November 25th, our Black Friday membership special brought 216 new memberships and 30 more re-commitments in one single day. In the first half of January our front desk crew registered 72 more memberships for a busy start to the year.

Our second annual Tri-The-HUB indoor triathlon on January 22nd was a great success with an over-maximum registration of 63. We thank the competitors for their participation and volunteer Race Director Dr. Charles (CJ) Rubright along with over 30 volunteers for making the event possible. Tri-The-HUB was a fabulous event that provided a triathlon experience for individuals age 10 and up.

Here’s what’s on The HUB horizon:

February 17th brings a HUB sponsored event to the Heartland Regional Aquatic Center. From 6-8 p.m., Glen Faith and his amazing staff of Mermet Springs Dive Center will guide you through the water for a unique underwater experience. Have you ever wanted to “fly and breathe” underwater? Experience it first-class with Mermet for just $25 per person. All you need is your swimsuit and towel for an introduction and SCUBA tour through our pool. This event is for those 10 years of age or older.  Contact Mermet Springs directly at 527-DIVE for more information or to register. RSVP required and the spots are already half-full!

Recognizing the great value of group classes for fitness success we have welcomed to The HUB Team, new instructors in 2016 including Valerie, Kathy, Jen and Melise.  They join HUB instructors Scott, Stacey, Jeremy, Kim, Tina, Mary, Debbie, Stephanie, Paul, Amy, Christy and Whitney. Along with all of our group exercise classes HUBfit is now included in membership!

Group aquatic fitness instructors Jean, Jane, and Debbie will get you moving in the lap/instructional pool for Aerobics and Arthritis and the rec pool for River Walk. These water classes are ideal to take the weight off joints, provide resistance in all directions of movement and condition the heart.

Challenge yourself by trying land-based and aquatic classes to bolster your 2017 exercise variety, consistency and overall fitness success. See the website or printed fitness schedules, which are updated on the first of each month, for all class times each week and just show up!

On the strength side, boost the tracking and motivation of your training program, with a call to Wellness Coordinator Joe Vaughan for an ActivTrax orientation. Progression for strength improvements is the name of the game with ActivTrax.

Stay tuned to HUB opportunities, schedule changes and events by signing up for the general HUB Text Club and specific text group registration. It’s free and provides timely news and updates.

In the spirit of our mission, I welcome you to get active with membership programs and I thank you for joining us and staying at The HUB for wellness, recreation and learning through the year.
